2 SAMUEL CHAPTER 7
1 And it came about that, when the king dwelt in his own house and himself had given him rest from all his enemies round about,
2 then the king said to Nathan, the prophet:
See, now, I am dwelling in a house of cedars while the ark of the [true] God is dwelling in the middle of tent cloths.
3 Upon that Nathan said to the king:
Everything that is in your heart -- go, do, because is with you.
4 And it came about on that night that the word of came to Nathan, saying:
5 Go, and you must say to my servant David [],
'This is what has said: Should you yourself build me a house for me to dwell in? [Yes,
builds God a house to dwell in made up of living gods like him. So far there is only one stone laid, the foundation stone of the temple of Gods]
6 For I have not dwelt in a house from the day of my bringing the sons of Israel up out of Egypt to this day, but I was continually walking about in a tent and in a tabernacle.
7 During all the time that I have walked about among all the sons of Israel, was there a word that I spoke with one of the tribes/leaders of Israel that I commanded to shepherd my people Israel, saying, 'Why did you people not build me a house of cedars [ king-researchers]?'' [Binary Question: Literally, no. To the Watchtower, yes. The Watchtower could have built a house of Kings but they did not want to share their power with anyone]
8 And now this is what you will say to my servant David, 'This is what of armies has said: I myself took you from the pasture ground from following the flock to become a leader over my people Israel [ was following the first holy spirit led by before he fell. So he was not a member of the ].
9 And I shall prove to be with you wherever you do go, and I will cut off all your enemies from before you; and I shall certainly make for you a great name, like the name of the great ones that are in the earth.
10 And I shall certainly appoint a place for my people Israel and plant them, and they will indeed reside where they are, and no more will they be disturbed; and the sons of unrighteousness will not afflict them again as they did at the first,
11 even from the day that I put judges in command over my people Israel; and I will give you rest from all your enemies.
'And has told you that a house is what will make for you [The house, ' wife].
12 When your days come to the full, and you must lie down with your forefathers, then I shall certainly raise up your seed after you [a greater Solomon, the seed of , his firstborn son through the wife. This is the Kings all of whom have corresponding fathers and so have as a grand father],
which will come out of your inward parts; and I shall indeed firmly establish his kingdom.
13 He is the one that will build a house [of cedars/seeders]
for my name, and I shall certainly establish the throne of his kingdom firmly to time indefinite [a house and a kingdom for ' seed, the Kings. The Kings are all vassals and sons of their corresponding Kings. This is prefigured by David and Solomon being coregent. David, the s had the heart. And Solomon,
the s had the wisdom].
14 I myself shall become his father, and he himself will become my son [Solomon was born again as were the whole line from Adam to ] ['
seed will be born again].
When he does wrong, I will also reprove him with the rod of men and with the strokes of the sons of Adam [ himself was tested in all respects but without sin (Hebrews 4:15), but his seed,
the saints are not so perfect].
15 As for my loving-kindness, it will not depart from him the way I removed it from Saul [the Jews],
whom I removed on account of you.
16 And your house [the saints]
and your kingdom [the ]
will certainly be steadfast to time indefinite before you; your very throne will become one firmly established to time indefinite.'
17 According to all these words and according to all this vision was the way that Nathan spoke to David.
18 At that King David came in and sat down before and said: Who am I, Oh Sovereign Lord ? [Reader Question - !]
And what is my house that you have brought me thus far? [The house of the ]
19 As though this should even be something little in your eyes, Oh Sovereign Lord , yet you also speak respecting the house of your servant down to a distant future time; and this is the law given for mankind, Oh Sovereign Lord (2 Samuel 7).
17
And if you yourself will walk before me, just as David your father walked, even by doing according to all that I have commanded you, and you will keep my regulations and my judicial decisions,
18 I will also establish the throne of your kingship, just as I covenanted with David your father, saying, 'There will not a man of yours be cut off from ruling over Israel (2Chronicles7).
11
has sworn to David, Truly he will not draw back from it: Of the fruitage of your belly I shall set on your throne.
12 If your sons will keep my covenant And my reminders that I shall teach them, Their sons also forever will sit upon your throne.
13 For has chosen ; He has longed for it as a dwelling for himself:
14 This is my resting-place forever; Here I shall dwell, for I have longed for it.
15 Its provisions I shall bless without fail.
Its poor ones I shall satisfy with bread.
16 And its priests I shall clothe with salvation; And its loyal ones will without fail cry out joyfully.
17 There I shall cause the horn of David to grow. I have set in order a lamp for my anointed one.
18 His enemies I shall clothe with shame; But upon him his diadem will flourish. A Song of the Ascents. Of David (Psalm132).
But David's sons of course failed to keep God's covenant, and so they stopped sitting upon his throne at Jehoahaz. But that was not the end of the throne of David, for Isaiah prophesied, saying...
6
For there has been a child born to us, there has been a son given to us; and the princely rule will come to be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
7 To the abundance of the princely rule and to peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David [the throne of the ]
and upon his [']
kingdom in order to establish it firmly and to sustain it by means of justice and by means of righteousness, from now on and to time indefinite. The very zeal of of armies will do this (Isaiah 9).
So David's throne persists through the kingdom of God. It is God's throne over mankind. But David no longer own's it, he is used metonymically here.
31 and, look! you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and you are to call his name .
32 This one will be great and will be called Son of the Most High; and God will give him the throne of David his
father [this happened on 1914Tishri15,
at the end of the . immediately appointed Charles Russell as his earthly vassal over the sons of the ].
33 and he will rule as king over the house of [the sons of the , he never ruled over the genetic sons of Israel]
forever, and there will be no end of his kingdom (Luke 1).
